Can I use an iphone on an airplane?

Question

Can I use an iphone on an airplane?
I know inflight mode you cant use. but if i take the sime card out can i still use it on plane?

Answer

dependsbrif the iPhone allows a flight mode, ie it disconnects the transmitter from the devioce. not all phones do that.. its a relatively recent invention and as such probably wont be in the iPhone which is after all quite a dated designbrbrtaking the sim card out wont neccesarily make the device safe in the airlines eyes. The inflight mode should be perecxtly acceptable.. I guess the airlines prefer to ban phones to make it easier to administer.brbrthere is talk of permitting a mobile devices in the near future.brbrmind you there is the argument that why should a cellphone or anyother device cuase intereference on another dvices. if the plane and phine is ralteively modern then if its sold in the EU it would have to pass testing which stops such intereference. the main reason for banning phones is to allow users of antiquatred equipment to get away with using antiquated equipment, or to deter what other people may regard as noise intereference...
